TPD Compliance
TPD Compliance at Wildfire Vape
What Is TPD and Why Is It Important?
The Tobacco Products Directive (TPD) is a piece of legislation first introduced by the European Union to regulate the manufacture, presentation, and sale of tobacco and vaping products across EU member states. Since Brexit, the UK has retained these rules under its own legislation, the Tobacco and Related Products Regulations 2016 (TRPR). These regulations apply to all nicotine-containing vaping products sold in the UK and are enforced to protect public health and consumer safety.
At Wildfire Vape, we take these regulations seriously. Every product we sell is fully compliant with TPD requirements. We work only with trusted suppliers and manufacturers who provide lab-tested, MHRA-submitted, and traceable vape products. TPD compliance is not just a legal obligation—it’s part of our commitment to offering safe, high-quality vape products to all our customers across the UK.
How TPD Regulations Benefit Vapers
TPD compliance is designed to protect you, the customer. With vaping becoming a popular alternative to smoking, it’s essential that the products on the market are manufactured to a consistent and reliable standard. TPD legislation ensures that you know exactly what’s in your vape juice, that nicotine limits are controlled, and that devices are tamper-proof, child-safe, and labelled correctly.
For you as a customer, this means:
- You get products that have undergone safety checks and ingredient analysis.
- You benefit from honest, transparent labelling.
- You avoid the risk of counterfeit or poorly manufactured products.
- You’re protected from misleading claims and marketing.
At Wildfire Vape, we believe that regulation raises standards across the industry and helps maintain trust between retailers and the vaping community.
What Makes a Product TPD Compliant?
Every nicotine-containing product sold by Wildfire Vape meets strict criteria to ensure full compliance. This applies to disposable vapes, refillable e-liquid bottles, prefilled pods, and any nicotine-based liquids available on our website.
Here are the main requirements of TPD compliance in the UK:
- Nicotine-containing e-liquids are limited to 10ml bottles. This size restriction helps reduce the risk of accidental exposure and makes it easier for users to control their intake.
- The maximum nicotine strength allowed is 20mg/ml. This ensures a balance between effectiveness and safety, preventing the sale of dangerously high doses.
- E-cigarette tanks and refillable pods must not exceed 2ml in capacity. This reduces the chance of leaks and misuse.
- All nicotine products must be child-resistant and tamper-evident. Safety caps and seals are standard on every bottle or pod.
- Clear labelling and health warnings are mandatory. These must include ingredients, nicotine strength, and the required warnings about nicotine being an addictive substance.
- All nicotine products must be submitted to the MHRA for approval before being sold. A unique notification process ensures that each product is reviewed and listed on the MHRA register before it reaches any customer.
You can view approved products on the MHRA’s published list of TPD-compliant e-cigarette products.
Are Shortfills and Nicotine-Free E-liquids TPD Regulated?
No—shortfills and zero-nicotine e-liquids do not fall under the scope of the TPD because they do not contain nicotine when sold. However, at Wildfire Vape, we still hold these products to a high safety standard. All of our non-nicotine e-liquids are sourced from respected brands with a strong track record for product safety, quality control, and transparent ingredients.
Our shortfills are designed to be mixed with nicotine shots, which are TPD regulated. So while the shortfill itself isn’t regulated, the complete mixture you end up vaping will include a TPD-compliant nicotine shot.
Understanding the Role of the MHRA
The MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) is the UK government body responsible for monitoring and approving vape products before they are sold to consumers. All nicotine-containing products must be submitted through the MHRA’s notification system and appear on their published product list to be legally sold.
Wildfire Vape only stocks products that have been properly notified and accepted by the MHRA. This means everything we offer has passed the necessary safety and quality checks before being added to our range. If a product is not registered or fails to meet compliance standards, it doesn’t go on sale—simple as that.
How Wildfire Vape Ensures Ongoing Compliance
TPD compliance isn’t a one-time checkbox—it’s something we take seriously every day. We regularly review our product catalogue to ensure all our listings are up-to-date, accurate, and remain in line with changing regulations. If rules change or products are re-evaluated by the MHRA, we make adjustments quickly to stay fully compliant.
We also work closely with our suppliers and manufacturers to receive documentation and test results for every new product we consider stocking. This means you can trust Wildfire Vape to deliver products that are not only legal but held to the highest industry standards.
We’re also happy to answer questions about TPD or individual products—just get in touch with our team and we’ll be happy to help.
Responsible Retailing, Backed by Regulation
At Wildfire Vape, we believe that regulation is essential for the future of vaping. TPD ensures that all vapers—new and experienced—can make informed decisions and enjoy their products with confidence. We’re proud to uphold these standards and to be a retailer that puts safety, quality, and compliance first.
Whether you’re choosing a 10ml e-liquid, picking out a new pod device, or grabbing a few nic shots for your shortfill, you can rest assured everything in your cart meets the requirements of UK law.
